CODE OF CONDUCT

Preamble

The Nanaimo Women’s Business Networking (NWBN) group is committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and professional environment. We believe in the power of diversity and the importance of creating a space where everyone can thrive without fear of discrimination, defamation, or slander.

All members are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, which includes showing respect for colleagues and the community at large. This means avoiding negative or harmful language that could disparage or demean others based on any aspect of their identity or contributions.

Respectful Communication

We expect all members, including board members, to communicate professionally and respectfully. Any form of derogatory comments, personal attacks, or harmful language will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, discriminatory remarks, defamatory statements, or slander against any member or board member of the group.

Non-Discrimination

The NWBN group is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, or technology choices. We do not tolerate discrimination in any form.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behavior from any member, including sponsors and those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

If a member engages in unacceptable behavior, the NWBN executive may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from the membership without warning.

Reporting Unacceptable Behavior

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a NWBN executive as soon as possible. All reports will remain completely confidential.

This Code of Conduct is subject to change.

The NWBN executive reserves the right to amend or revise this code at any time. Members will be notified of any changes.

In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, we would like to acknowledge that the Nanaimo Women's Business Network operates on the traditional territories of the Snuneymuxw First Nation peoples.
