Barbara Dobbyn, the creative force behind Barbara Anne Photography, is passionate about creating safe spaces for all people to lift each other up and celebrate each others unique contributions to our world. As an accomplished business woman, internationally accredited and award-winning photographer, and sought after personal brand consultant, Barbara is committed to championing the fight against social messaging that leaves people feeling less than and unworthy.

Barbara is a VIU Alumni holding a Degree in Business Management, and is proud that one of her daughters is also a VIU Alumni!  Barbara has been actively involved in the Nanaimo Business Community for the past 30 years.  She began her career in Banking and Business Finance before embarking on her first creative entrepreneurial venture, a retail store in Rutherford Mall called Candy Bouquet. She followed this with managing larger retail box stores before moving into a Shopping Centre career that wrapped up in Specialty Leasing for Bentall Green Oak, managing their Western Canadian Division.  

 

Three years ago she realized that her career was taking her farther and farther away from working with people and her most important personal value of making a difference in peoples lives.  That is when she decided to course correct her life and she gave up her corporate career to pursue her passion as a portrait photographer.  

 

Now she works with a diverse range of clients who want to reconnect with their authentic selves so they can be empowered to become their own greatest success story, both personally and professionally.
